Introducing MetaPoll

Welcome to the MetaPoll Docs! Here you'll get an overview of what MetaPoll offers to help your organization or community achieve more than you dreamed possible.

What problem does MetaPoll solve?

MetaPoll solves the problem of turning complete, multi-dimensional decision spacesβ€”where millions or even billions of possible outcomes overwhelm traditional yes/no pollsβ€”into an efficient, human-scale voting process that surfaces actionable consensus over time.

What does MetaPoll do?

MetaPoll developed and uses a Multi-Dimensional Consensus Tree ("MDCT") voting system that lets groups of any size quickly and easily reach clear consensus on full decision spaces with more than 500x efficiency improvements on existing methods.

What's wrong with traditional consensus tools?

Traditional polling faces four critical limitations:

  1. Dimensionality: Polls flatten multidimensional decision spaces into isolated choices, creating a false simplicity that incurs crippling interpretation costs with up to super-exponential interest.

  2. Temporality: Polls create a single one time result, drifting out-of-sync with the changing real world. Fixed voting dates force humans to conform to the needs of the organization.

  3. Verifiability: We're asked to trust centralized counters without mathematical proof.

  4. Persistence: Even accurate results remain vulnerable to deletion when they become inconvenient to powerful actors.

MetaPoll overcomes these by:

  1. Dimensionality: Tree-structured MDCM ballots compress exponentially complex trade-offs into near logarithmic voter effort. A β‰ˆ500x improvement in coordination cost. In human terms this means changing effort from hours to minutes.

  2. Temporality: MetaPoll decouples the voting action from result generation through decay-weighted continuous vote signalling. MetaPoll creates continuously evolving preference data that remains accurate without continuous voting requirements.

  3. Verifiability: Cryptographic proofs (VCIP + VDIP) transform "trust us" into "verify it yourself" with checks run by anyone in the blink of an eye.

  4. Persistence: Censorship-resistant storage anchors results where no single entity can alter the historical record.

In short: fewer coordination headaches, far stronger guarantees, and the power to tackle richer decision spaces that would computationally melt traditional polling tools.
